Weekend Vacation

It seems I have been traveling extensively this summer.... Which I am not complaining about... time just goes by entirely way to fast, and that speeds it up even more! I am leaving today for Catalina... It is a work trip. I have to sit through a meeting tomorrow morning... and in turn, I get a paid for island vacation. Not a bad deal if you ask me... I am not throughly excited yet... but I will be once I get home to pack and get going.... So think of me as I am basking in the sun and playing in the ocean this weekend! I will get some pics to post next week....

Guilty Pleasures

I used to go to get massages at a place that was very basic in decor and didnt really do much in the mood setting arena. Plain lobby. Plain hallways. Straight to your room and out the door. So last night I was wowed when I walked into the new place.... They had already wooed me with the ad stating my first massage would only be $39 .... they wooed me even further when I called to make an appointment and she told me to bring a swimming suit .... as they had a jacuzzi for me to use before or after my massage. When I arrived, I walked in to find a salon on my left... a reception area on my right.... and large glass doors stating "Quiet Zone" directly ahead... They greeted me by name and asked if I had my swimming suit, I didn't... but not to worry, they had a steam shower that I could relax in instead! They led me though the doors.... The low lighting was accentuated with waterfalls built into the walls, and couches gathered around water and complimentary snacks to lounge while waiting for your massage therapist.... I was brought to the locker room, where I was given a key to my locker supplied with sandals, a plush robe, and a towel. They told me to take my time... use the jacuzzi, sit in the steam shower... use the regular shower... whatever I wanted.... then put on my robe when I was ready and go lounge on the couches where I would be greeted by my therapist. I was in heaven. All of this for $39? This was worth it... I felt pampered and I hadn't even gotten my massage yet! I puttered around the locker room in my robe and sandals taking it all in... and decided if I was going to be on a table for an hour I should use the restroom.... Which is where it started.... the toilet wouldn't flush. Just my luck... I jiggled the handle.... examined the bowl... the tank...nothing... Great... Now I was going to have to tell my masseuse that I couldn't flush the toilet... Awkward. So I put down the lid and went to wash my hands... I squirt a bunch of soap in one hand... and turned the handle with the other. Nothing.... I tried in vain several times thinking water would someone miraculously appear on the next try. I went to the next faucet.... same thing. I decided my last resort was to try the shower... So I wander in with my handful of soap... and ...nothing! This was not exactly in compliance with my relaxing experience I had thus far... this was in fact quite the opposite... I wandered through the waterfall ridden hallways out into the lobby in my robe.... everyone just kinda stopped and stared and I explained my situation.... which brought on all sorts of apologies... apparently they had to turn the water off to fix a hair sink and forgot all about it. So there I am ..... in a robe.... and no plan of attack for the soap. One of the girls and a guy from the salon took me back to the Quiet Zone arguing whether I could just stick my hand in a waterfall or not... when we finally decided to fill some cups from the water cooler and head back to the locker room, where the nice lady played faucet for me and poured water on my hands so I could rinse them off. My massage was great and exactly what I needed.... but OF COURSE there had to be some random incident or it just wouldn't be me would it?? Despite the lack of agua... I will probably go back the next time I need a massage.... and drag friends there as well... I was a sucker for the bone dry Quiet Zone.

Movies at Lake Las Vegas

Probably my favorite thing in Las Vegas in the summer, is movies at Lake Las Vegas. Every thursday night from June through August, they set up a big screen by the water... and you bring out blankets and pillows to lay in the grass and watch the movie. Its free. Its fun. And I pretty much think its adorable. The weather was crappy last week, and its turning out that way this week too, hopefully it is clear tomorrow night so we can go out!

Grandpa Russ

My Grandpa Russ died almost 2 weeks ago, on the 3rd. He was an amazing man, and truely a great example in everything that he did. I am so lucky to have had him for a Grandpa, he was with me every step of the way for over 25 years, and I will miss him so much! This is the most recent picture I have with him, it was when I was home to visit and we went for a walk... he was absolutely adorable! Love you Grandpa!
